Cultural life in Lille - La vie culturelle Lilloise
The superstars

The opéra-house of Lille, one of the biggest monument of the city at the entry of the Old Lille opens its doors to the youngest with very interesting prices. You can see not only one of the most incredible plays (as the enchanted flute by Mozart or the traviata by Verdi) but also many small shows of classic music or jazz.
In the “grand place”, you cannot miss the “théâtre du Nord” which proposes an ecletic programm of plays (sometimes in original version)
Just next to stations, the zénith of Lille receives dozens of artists and also “la revue médecine”(have a look at the “unavoidable event in Lille”) ...
If you prefer intimacy...

Lille and its metropolis are full of small places where plays, concerts are performed. We cannot mention all of them but to give you an example of what is possible:
- “le fresnoy” in Tourcoing (access with subway) / numeric art creation.
- “ la rose des vents” in Villeneuve d’Acsq / above all dancing shows.
- “le biplan” in Lille / small concerts in a terrific student atmosphere
- “la cave aux poètes” in Roubaix....
What about french movies ?

Ready to watch a french movie ?
It’s very easy to find a cinema because there are big ones in the pedestran streets of Lille. We are above all proud of our big cinematographic complex in Lomme, the biggest in France (access by subway)
The concept of “maisons folie” ( “crazy houses”)

Created in 2004 for the celebration of Lille as the european capital of the culture, these “houses” of exposition and creation take now part of our landscape. It is now the place in which neighbours can spend a good time together.
7 of them are in the metropolis and among them, there is the one of Wazemmes (popular and festive district of Lille) or even the one of Lambersart, surrounded by a park and by a the river.
During the year, many activities and many festivals are organised. If you want to meet the spirit of Lille’s people, their doors are always opened.
